How to get started?

To get started you only need to write a paragraph

Before you get too far along and start writing your first draft, we want to see a one paragraph. Just one paragraph will provide us with a ton of information to help you get started writing your first full length draft.
With a sample paragraph, you will get feedback on the style of your writing to help nail down the basic requirements.
By writing just one paragraph, you will have a shorter feedback loop and avoid rewriting, which can be very frustrating when you're first starting out.

Create a story from our sample motivation letter

Before your write your sample, think what story the student might be trying to tell. This story can be anything that would be interesting to university admission officers, and since it isn't intended for publication, you should keep it short.

What we're looking for

At this point, you don't need to be too concerned about subject matter. You want to dial in your:
  • Writing style
  • Improvisation skills
  • Readability
  • Ability to understand and improve poor drafts

Send us your sample

The studyabroad.lvie team is here to help and provide feedback, so just do your best, write one paragraph, and share it with us for feedback. If something isn't clear, please let us know so we can get you back on track as soon as possible. You have years of collective experience at your disposal.

What's next?

After a round or two of feedback, you will have the main aspects of writing drafts down. You will have a better understanding of the studyabroad.live writing style, and by focusing on a mere one paragraph you'll have a clearer understanding of the advantages to writing in small chunks with a tight feedback loop.

You're ready to write your first draft.
